58 Pitch Complete Game by Red Barrett

On August 10, 1944 Red Barrett of the Boston Braves only needed 58 pitches for his 2 hit complete game victory against the Reds at Crosley Field. The masterpiece took just 1 hour and 15 minutes to play and is the fastest night game in history. We have a better chance of seeing a pitcher win 512 games before we see another MLB game played in 75 minutes.

Tip your Braves hat to Bucky Walters of the Reds for the quick work. You have to love the names on that pre-game fight card - Red Barrett vs. Bucky Walters

Interesting nugget from Baseball Almanac:
The Sporting News box score and several other Associated Press articles about this particular game never made mention of the amazing record set by Red Barrett?
